SATURDAY SCENES: NOT SO COLD, WITH A COLD FEAT #5THNYC Last winter, I got a really terrible sinus infection that knocked me off my feet and off the bike for a few days. I was paranoid of losing precious training time, but then came across a great article from Cycling Tips about training with a cold/flu. I revisit it every time I catch a cold — simply to remind me to stay smart, and stay slow. Here’s my favorite pointers from the Cycling Tips article:
"If it’s above the neck - it’s okay to train. If it’s below the neck - rest up."
"It’s always better to be under-trained and healthy than over-trained but sick."
Luckily, it’s not the flu and is above the neck, so I headed out this morning with Gang Green. I was proud of myself for resisting the temptation to hammer to make up for lost time, and kept it mega slow. Here’s to good health and weather, boys and girls.
